Godiva Dark Chocolate Liqueur - May 01, 2014

Our Drink of the Month for May is Godiva Dark Chocolate Liqueur. Fellow boozers will probably be familiar with Godiva's more common Chocolate Liqueur, which is a great mixer in its own right. However, where the milk chocolate version is more of a creamy base, the dark chocolate variety is a thinner flavor additive. Conventional words like rich, smooth, and velvety simply do not do this wondrous concoction justice. Complement the dark flavors with just a splash of your favorite semisweet fruit- we're preferential to blood orange, but really just about anything will do. Try it out today and take your favorite dessert cocktail to the next level.

As you might expect, Velvet Falernum pairs well with any sort of rum, and is a crucial component in a large number of our cocktails. Let's kick off spring with something tropical and relaxing.

Hum Botanical Spirit - March 01, 2014

Our Drink of the Month for March is Hum Botanical Spirit. The main recognizable flavor of this liqueur is hibiscus, although it includes other ingredients such as ginger, sugar cane, and lime. As a more subtle floral liqueur, Hum is rather versatile; however, it pairs especially well with dry gin and citrus. We frequently find Hum to be that 'something missing' in our cocktails, and we're sure it will become a staple in your collection as well.

1921 Crema de Tequila - February 01, 2014

Here at The Elektra, we created the Drink of the Month to highlight cocktail ingredients that we feel don't get the attention they deserve. Our first such underrated mixer is 1921 Crema de Tequila. It is a suprisingly smooth liqueur, with a sea-salt caramel flavor that pairs well with espresso and chocolate. Of course, with a flavor this enticing, you'll be tempted to drink it straight- and at a mere 30 proof, you won't feel too bad about it either. Click the bottle above to check out some of our recommended cocktail recipes.
